Maurizio Sarri showed his ignorance during his post-match press conference this evening.
Sarri has survived by the skin of his teeth. Chelsea were heading to an embarrassing defeat prior to Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s late goals.
His substitutions were effective, which we would give him due credit for if he was not merely bringing on the personnel who he should have started in the first place.
The fans’ utter contempt may well prove to be decisive in Sarri’s Chelsea career, and it doesn’t look as though he’s capable of repairing that relationship.

Speaking to the media following the game, Sarri is quoted by the Chelsea Twitter account saying:
“If we win matches the fans will be happy. Of course we need to improve and play better, but sometimes during the season you need to win matches like this.”
This is, quite frankly, wrong.
The reason we have grown so frustrated this season is because the standard of football has been shocking. The performances have been a disgrace.
We finished the first-half with over 70% possession and not a single shot on target. That’s a common theme of the campaign under Sarri so far.
Victories of this manner will not be enough to convince us that Sarri is the man to take us forward. He needs to wake up to that reality.
