According to information published by AS, Real Madrid are (naively) hoping to snatch Eden Hazard on the cheap this summer.
AS believe that Los Blancos’ success in securing Thibaut Courtois for less than his market value has offered them encouragement in their pursuit of Hazard.
Ordinarily, you’d have to think Chelsea would demand an astronomical fee for Hazard, who is one of the best players on the planet.
However, Hazard’s contract with the club expires in the summer of 2020. AS are under the impression that Real Madrid believe that will hold great significance in negotiations.

Hazard’s market value may have depreciated as a result of his contract running down, but he’s still worth an astronomical amount to Chelsea football club.
He’s our talisman. Our star performer. And not only that, our most marketable player.
That’s not to say that Chelsea will not be prepared to let go if the price is right, but it’s difficult to see that figure being anything near that Real Madrid paid for Courtois. It’d be significantly more.
Either way, Real’s naivety could help us. If they’ve only allocated a minimal amount of their budget to negotiations over Hazard, they could get the shock of their lives when we tell them the real asking price.
At least that’s what we hope!
