Real Madrid have no intention of taking Mateo Kovacic back in the summertime, according to Spanish publication AS.
Kovacic was considered one of the most promising young players on the planet during his time with Inter Milan. It was that reputation which earned him a move to Real Madrid.
Not all went for plan for him at the Bernabeu, however. He rarely received a run of games, stunting his progression into the player he was seemingly destined to develop into.
Kovacic was subsequently loaned to Chelsea in a bid to revive his career. Though he has received the game-time he desires, he hasn’t exactly set the world alite.

That may well have been the final nail in the coffin for his Real Madrid career. AS believe there is no chance of him returning to the club this summer.
It’s unclear whether that means a permanent transfer to Chelsea is on the cards. It may well come down to whether we are even able to make transfers this summer.
Depending on the price, Kovacic would be a good permanent addition to the squad. If Real Madrid’s demands are too hefty, however, we’d be wise to pass it up.
