Season defining week lies in wait for Chelsea and manager Maurizio Sarri

It will be a very big week for Chelsea as the Blues prepare to make a strong case in their chase for a top four place in the Premier League and also pick up silverware.

The chance to win a trophy this season only remains in the Europa League. Chelsea were knocked out of both of the domestic competitions by the Manchester clubs, with the title far out of reach.

That means Chelsea must take the opportunity to add color to their season when they face Manchester United this weekend.

With only games against the Red Devils, Watford and Leicester City to the end of the campaign, Maurizio Sarri and his star-studded pack must be ready to convince their fans of a better season to follow.

It starts now. A win over Man United and two more will guarantee top-four place, while Chelsea will also have one eye on the away trip to Eintracht Frankfurt for the first leg of the Europa league.

After all, the second tier European competition is now a backdoor to the Champions League. The Blues cannot let this slip.

It will not only be a defining week for Chelsea as a collective, but also for manager Sarri. His job may well ride on his ability to get Chelsea back into the big-time.

If he falters, he could suffer the all too familiar fate of dismissal. If this Chelsea side want their manager to stay, we should get a pretty clear indication of it over the next week.
