Maurizio Sarri gave a rare start to three young players in a Premier League match and for the first time in a long while, the Blues recorded a resounding win in front of their home fans. Now the manager says the ‘future could be good’.
The Italian head coach has received a lot of flak for failing to call on the club’s academy graduates, mostly in league games and after eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge, Sarri named Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Andreas Christensen in the starting line up of a league match.

The decision proved right as Chelsea dominated from start to finish and the youngsters playing a huge part in it. Before Loftus-Cheek scored a screamer from just outside the box to make it 3-0, Hudson-Odoi had assisted Olivier Giroud’s opener in the first half.
Both of them and Christensen had played a fine game and Sarri thinks it can get better for the club.
“He [Hudson-Odoi] can risk thinking that he is a player at 100 per cent, but it’s impossible to be at the top when you are 18. ‘He can improve, and I want him to improve. In the future, he, Ruben and Andreas [Christensen] can become top players. The future could be good.”
