Manchester United fans allegedly direct homophobic chants towards Chelsea fans

Manchester United fans have allegedly been chanting ‘Chelsea rentboys’ ahead of kick-off this afternoon. This happens every single chuffing week, yet nothing’s done about it.

Chelsea fans have come under a great deal of scrutiny this season following various allegations of racial abuse. The perpetrators have been punished, and rightly so.

There is an inconsistency which we can’t help but bemoan, however, with those at the very top of English football’s governing bodies refusing to act.

Take this, for example, Standard Sport reported Simon Johnson has claimed that United fans were singing the ‘Chelsea rentboys’ chant at Old Trafford today.

This is a homophobic chant, one that has absolutely no place in football, yet incidents like this are recurrent and nothing is being done to prevent it.

More needs to be done, to give the members of the LGBTQ+ community the justice they deserve and ensure that they feel comfortable at football matches.
