Player admits how bad treatment from Chelsea manager cost them his future

The story of Kevin De Bruyne is one of painful missed chances for Chelsea.

We went to all the effort of scouting and then signing the brilliant young Dutchman after he played against us in the Champions League, and then we let him slip through our fingers.

We loaned him out and then sold him to the Bundesliga, without ever having let him have a proper run in the team. He’s spoken about it before, but now BBC Sport have quotes from the midfielder with some pretty damning quotes about Jose Mourinho’s influence in the matter.

De Bruyne goes to great lengths to point out how little attention the Portguese boss paid to him, and how strongly that affected his decision to leave.

According to the Man City player, he was only spoken to a “couple” of times by the out of work former Blues boss. He’s probably exaggerating, but it forces home again the impression that Jose made some major mistakes in his second spell at the club.
