Chelsea have been given a glimmer of hope in signing long-term target Nabil Fekir after the winger refused to rule out leaving Lyon next summer.
The diminutive attacker flourished last season, attracting interest from the Premier League before he made the cut for France World Cup winning squad in Russia. His exploits received so much acclaim, many thought he would switch clubs. Liverpool were the strongest linked, but the deal could not be struck in the dying hours of the summer transfer window last year.

With his future still unresolved at the French Ligue 1 club, Chelsea will be tempted to make an offer for him should he be declared available. However, the transfer embargo placed on Chelsea by FIFA for allegedly breaching rules relating to signing players under 18 years.
When quizzed if he will welcome the idea of moving to the Premier League after this season’s end, Fekir appeared unpretentious.
“Liverpool? It’s part of a player’s career, but it makes you stronger and you have to move forward. I really don’t know what I will do [next summer]. But as I said I feel good in Lyon, the president trusts me, that’s good. You will see [if I extend my contract].”
