Marcos Alonso has drawn Chelsea level with Manchester United at Old Trafford following another howler from David De Gea.
Antonio Rudiger fired towards goal from range, with De Gea parrying the ball straight into the path of Alonso, who took the opportunity brilliantly from an acute angle.

Alonso has lost his starting spot to Emerson Palmieri in recent weeks, but he’s back in the team today and has justified his involvement with a goal.

There’ll be more than enough opportunities for both players to get first-team opportunities before the end of the season, with Chelsea still involved in the Europa League.
As flimsy as Alonso can be defensively, even his biggest critic has to acknowledge that he’s a bigger threat going forward than Emerson, as he has proven once again today.
A left-back has no right to be in that position, latching onto a rebound and punishing the goalkeeper. That’s what Alonso brings you, and that’s why Sarri has started him today.
