Chelsea have produced a pretty laughable excuse for Maurizio Sarri’s visible anger as he left open training in Baku yesterday morning.
Of course, Chelsea couldn’t head into a European cup final without utter turmoil going on behind the scenes. Sarri even forgot to draw the curtain before unravelling yesterday.

It’s a decent kick of the hat from Maurizio, especially for a man who was never a professional footballer. It hasn’t offered much reassurance to us on the eve of the final, however.
Thankfully, Chelsea have allayed our fears by providing the perfect explanation for Sarri’s anger – he wasn’t able to practice set pieces ahead of the game.
A Chelsea spokesman on Sarri HatGate: “Maurizio’s frustration displayed at the end of training was not related to any of his players, but was due to not being able to practise set-plays in the final 15 minutes of the hour-long training session as it remained open to media.†#cfc

Oh, of course, how didn’t we think of that?
After all, Sarri’s brand of football is almost wholly based on lumping the ball into the penalty area and hoping we can scramble it into the back of the net… right?
If Chelsea are going to publish pretty blatant lies in these statements in the future, they really ought to get more creative with their excuses.
