Chelsea are one of several ‘big six’ sides who are interested in signing Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire, according to The Sun.
Maguire’s ascent to the summit of the game is well underway, with his assured defending and unique competency in possession leaving him head and shoulders above many of his counterparts.
Leicester were always going to be a stepping stone for a player with his quality and potential. Having made that step, it looks as though Maguire could soon be leaving the King Power.
The Sun report that the Englishman will play his final game in a Leicester shirt this Sunday, with interest in signing him this summer intensifying as the days tick down towards the window.
It’s claimed that Chelsea, along with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham, are in the running to sign Maguire, who The Sun believe is rated in the region of £60M.
Though that may seem a hefty price to pay, we’d be paying English premium, and Maguire is one of the best players in Gareth Southgate’s squad at this current time.
Of course, the transfer ban could prove to be prohibiting, but if we are able to sign players this summer, and Maurizio Sarri wants a centre-back, there’s few better options than Maguire.
