Chelsea’s injury list stands at five ahead of Europa League final tonight

Chelsea’s injury list stands at five ahead of the Europa League final in Baku this evening, with Physio Room reporting that just two of those have any chance of making the cut.

In truth, Chelsea heading into a European cup final while riddled by injuries shouldn’t be something we ought to fear. We won the Champions League in 2012 with a heavily changed starting XI.

However, if you asked Maurizio Sarri for his preference, it’d no doubt to have his best team available to him to increase his chances of winning his first ever piece of silverware in the game.

If the Italian is to be triumphant tonight, he’ll have to do it without Antonio Rudiger, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who we’ve known were unavailable for some time now.

Physio Room also note that Gary Cahill is a ‘slight doubt’ while N’Golo Kante faces a late fitness test before his availability for the game is fully determined. We face a nervous wait on that one.

Kante is the key one here, really. Building a midfield without him would be incredibly difficult, so even if he’s half fit, Sarri might be tempted to take a chance on him for this one.
