‘Best league in the world’ – Chelsea star hints at stay beyond the season’s end

Mateo Kovacic has reflected on his first season in the Premier League during an interview with the Chelsea website, during which he suggests he’ll be wanting to stick around.

It is rather bizarre for a club of Chelsea’s stature to be signing players on-loan without an option to buy. It’d be a waste of time for us to be developing other team’s players for them.

Kovacic has shown little willingness to return to Real Madrid, however. You get the feeling that if we were to agree a fee to make the deal permanent, the Croat would be keen.

That idea has only been reinforced by these comments from Kovacic while speaking to the Chelsea media team. He’s quoted by the club’s website revealing his love for the Premier League:

“It’s very tough and physically very strong, so for me it’s the most difficult league in the world and I’m really happy that I can play here.”

“For me it’s the most difficult and the best as well, because every game is difficult, the stadiums are amazing, the atmosphere is great. I’m sure that many players would say that this is the best league in the world.”

A player speaking in this manner would surely have no interest in leaving what he refers to as the best league on the planet. If we are able to make transfers, you have to think he’ll be one of them.
