Mateo Kovacic has insisted that Chelsea should respect Eden Hazard’s decision on his future – even if it is to depart Stamford Bridge.
Hazard to Real Madrid has been the talk of the past few months – and it looks as though it’s set to continue as the summer window approaches.
The Belgian has refused to rule out the possibility of staying at Stamford Bridge, but if he were totally committed the contract will have been signed already.
Real Madrid are a huge club, one that would be hard for anyone to turn down. Hazard’s teammate, Kovacic, knows that from his own experience.
The Croat will have enjoyed playing with Eden this term – who wouldn’t – but it’s unclear whether the pair will be together come the start of next season.
Either way, Kovacic believes that we should accept, and respect, Hazard’s decision. The midfielder is quoted by Sky Sports saying:
“Eden is a great guy, an amazing player, for every club he would be important. For Chelsea he is the most important player but in the end it’s his decision so everybody should respect his decision.”
It’ll be a sad day for everyone at the club if/when Hazard departs, but he’s done enough for us to have his decision respected. We love you, Eden!
