“I see the squad being able to build again and move forward” – Chelsea favourite predicts successful season next year

Chelsea are going to be able to continue playing good football and dominating games despite the FIFA ban that will restrict the club from signing new players in the coming transfer window, according to departing captain Gary Cahill.

The Blues have a fighting spirit that will see them overcome several hurdles in the upcoming season, according to Cahill, who hoisted a trophy for the last time as leader of the London giants last night. Chelsea won the Europa League title for a second time in their history to cap a fine season, having already made the Carabao Cup final, losing to Manchester City via penalty shootout.

The impending transfer ban threatens to send the Blues into oblivion, as their rivals empower themselves with new and refreshing talent, Chelsea will be left with the players tied to new deals and those already on long-term contracts.

Cahill, who has won eight major trophies at Chelsea as a player since he signed for the Roman Abramovich-owned club in 2012 says the Premier League giants have it in them to breach new hurdles thrown at them.

“I see the squad being able to build again and move forward. To qualify for the Champions League is a great achievement and something that was a target for the lads, but to finish with a trophy is what they played for throughout the whole season.

Looking forward, we have to see what see what happens with the ban and see how that plays out, but we’re looking forward to the young players coming through. They’re very exciting. I’m sure the fans will embrace that and the lads who are still here.”
