Stats prove Chelsea are now ready for world-class striker to arrive this summer

When Chelsea strikers in the past have failed to deliver, we pointed the finger to the service they were being provided.

Fernando Torres loved to spin off the last defender at Liverpool, but the through balls previously provided by Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso were not being replicated at Chelsea.

Alvaro Morata is one of the best strikers in the world while the ball’s in the air, but there’s not a whole load of lumping it into the box while Sarriball’s in force at Stamford Bridge.

They were both unsuited to our style of play, while also being too weak mentally to deal with the pressure. The situation has now changed, however.

The service IS there.

While not all of these will be defence-splitting passes, a fair share of them will, which is why it’s completely baffling how neither player has provided an assist in the league.

The Premier League also possess data which tells us that only Manchester City have missed more ‘big chances’ in the league this term. Chelsea are second on 55.
