Cesar Azpilicueta has insinuated that Eden Hazard had offers from fellow Premier League clubs during his time as a Chelsea player, report The Sun.
Hazard departed Chelsea earlier this month after spending seven years at Stamford Bridge. Realising a childhood dream and becoming a Real Madrid player proved to be too tough to turn down.
There’s scarcely a Chelsea fan out there with any bitterness towards Hazard. That could have all been different if he made an inter-Premier League transfer, however, as it appears he could have done.
Captain Azpilicueta is quoted by The Sun not only suggesting that Hazard had other offers, but that he could have been banking even more money if he pushed for the move(s) to happen:
“Honestly, the times that he had to cope with the rumours. He always showed his desire not to sign for an English team, even if he could have better contracts.”
“He has never been a selfish person.”
All this does is reaffirm Hazard’s unshakeable loyalty to Chelsea during his time here. We are incredibly thankful that we were lucky enough to witness seven years of his unmatched brilliance.
