Chelsea face possibility of premature Eden Hazard reunion in the Champions League

Chelsea will be in pot one in the draw for next season’s Champions League, which leaves us with the possibility of drawing Real Madrid.

The Blues had already ensured they would be competing in the competition next term by securing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

However, through defeating Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final a week today, Chelsea moved themselves up into pot one.

As a result, here’s how things stand. Chelsea have a high probability of drawing a strong side in the group stages of the competition.

It also leaves us open to drawing Real Madrid, which would be poetic.

Thibaut Courtois would be returning to Stamford Bridge for what would no doubt be a hostile reception – and so could Eden Hazard.

As the Telegraph report, Real Madrid are pushing forward with their interest in Eden. He may well get his fairytale return to SW6.

While being in pot one is always preferable, we may still face a tough task getting through to the knockout stages.

After all, our group could look something like: Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, RB Leipzig.

Bring it on.
