Chelsea are reportedly willing to offer out of contract Todd Kane a new deal, with Frank Lampard’s impending arrival also having an influence.
Kane is a Chelsea man through and through, but unfortunately that’s not enough to warrant a spot in a squad as strong and competitive as ours.
The Englishman has failed to break through at Chelsea, and with his contract set to expire, it could be time for the club to wave goodbye to him.
However, according to the Times, Kane has been offered a new deal by Chelsea, who are presumably unwilling to lose him on a free transfer.
Here’s when it gets interesting. The Times also claim that Derby County, of all clubs, are in the hunt for Kane, with him also receiving an offer from them.
Until the day he signs along the dotted line with Chelsea, Frank Lampard is still Derby manager, which makes this an incredibly complex situation.
While the decision will ultimately by Kane’s, if Derby were offering him a contract, is that a show of faith from Lampard – and could he keep him at Chelsea?
We’ll have to wait and see…
