Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté has been forced to withdraw from France’s international squad following an aggravation of his recent knee injury.
Kante almost missed out on playing in the Europa League final as his knee caused him bother, but made the cut and put in a brilliant performance.
He rode his luck playing the final while injured, however, and has subsequently paid the price. Kante has now withdrawn from France’s squad.
The Sun report that manager Didier Deschamps made the decision to allow Kante to sit this one out, deeming his knee injury not worth the risk.
Kante now needs to take the time to fully recover and make sure his knee is in complete working order for the start of our pre-season campaign.
He’s a credit to himself for being willing to play through pain, but Deschamps’ ruling is the correct one, showing understanding and care for the player.
