Chelsea have waved goodbye to defender Gary Cahill on the club’s website, with the Englishman’s contract coming to an end.
Cahill has been a superb servant for Chelsea football club, just falling short of the ‘legend’ bracket, but still writing his name into our history books.
He was unable to force his way into Maurizio Sarri’s thinking this term, despite being the club’s captain at the time of the Italian’s arrival.
The treatment he received from Sarri essentially ended his time as a Chelsea player, with the club now confirming that he’s left on a free.
Fond moments include our Champions League triumph in Munich and title win in 2014/15, both of which Cahill played a big part in.
Knowing him, he’ll probably be playing Premier League football next season, and will not be short of offers if he’s keen.
Whatever his next step may be, we wish him the very best of luck.
