Didier Drogba has revealed his belief that former Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard is ‘irreplaceable’. Thanks for twisting the knife, Didier!
Drogba may have departed Chelsea the season before Hazard’s arrival, but he couldn’t help returning to play alongside the Belgian wizard for a season.
Of course, we won the league title. When you have two winners of their breed in your side, success is an inevitability.
The Ivorian witnessed Hazard’s quality first-hand during the 2014/15 campaign – and it’s safe to say he was impressed with what he saw.
Speaking on Instagram live, Drogba is quoted by Standard Sport revealing his belief that directly replacing Hazard is an impossible task:
“No one can replace Hazard, he is special.”
However, Didier did go on to say that he believes someone will step up and fill his shoes eventually, as Standard Sport report:
“But someone else will come, [and] step up.”
Attempting to replace players like Hazard like-for-like is going to prove difficult. We have to strengthen the team, and the heir to throne will emerge eventually.
Drogba’s wisdom would be welcome back at Chelsea, if he’s interested…
