Chelsea legend considered frontrunner to replace Maurizio Sarri as manager

Derby County boss Frank Lampard is the outright frontrunner to replace Maurizio Sarri as Chelsea manager, according to the Daily Star.

Speculation linking Lampard with a sensational return to Chelsea as club manager has refused subside over the past weeks and months.

Few expect Maurizio Sarri to still be in charge come the start of next season, with Lampard one of few viable candidates for the role.

What Lampard lacks in experience he makes up for with his understanding of the game and this complicated football club.

Both of those attributes have placed him at the front of the queue to replace Sarri, or so has been claimed by the Daily Star.

Lampard’s potential arrival may be premature, he could have done with developing further as a manager at Derby.

However, we would much rather see a Chelsea man in charge at the Bridge than another who doesn’t understand the club’s culture.
