Olivier Giroud breaks Arsenal fans’ hearts with these comments about Chelsea

Olivier Giroud has revealed his belief that it was an ‘improvement’ leaving Arsenal and signing for Chelsea in January 2018.

Giroud arrived at the request of Antonio Conte, who appeared keen on adding a target man to his ranks in that winter window.

Though Giroud didn’t have much of an opportunity to star under Conte’s stewardship, he has under Maurizio Sarri.

Not necessarily in the Premier League, but the Europa League proved to be a happy hunting ground for the World Cup winner.

Having finished as the outright top goalscorer in the competition, Giroud also had a winners’ medal around his neck.

He has now explained how he made the right decision leaving Arsenal for Chelsea, as he told the club’s official website:

“It was an improvement going from Arsenal to Chelsea and I knew I would have the opportunity to win some more trophies. To win this Europa League one year after winning the World Cup is great for me.”

He went on to explain how his Arsenal allegiance is a thing of the past, as he told the Chelsea media team:

“I’m a Blue, a proper Blue. It’s a new chapter of my career and it was very special to score. I am so proud of this team.”

Giroud made mincemeat of his former side in Baku, which was rather enjoyable to watch from a Chelsea perspective.

His acquisition has proven to be a shrewd one, and we can’t wait to see him in action once again next season.
