The Telegraph have provided some (albeit brief) insight into the role Petr Cech will have in the appointment of Frank Lampard.
Cech’s return to Chelsea was confirmed on Friday morning, with the club handing him the role of technical and performance advisor.
While they attempted to offer some clarification as to exactly what means in their official statement, we remain in the dark over some of his responsibilities.
Naturally, you have to wonder if Cech’s return is linked to the potential appointment of Frank Lampard as manager. The pair have a great relationship having played together for years.
However, the Telegraph’s belief is that Cech’s say in discussions over Lampard will be minimal. It looks as though it’ll be the responsibility of the upper brass, who are more experienced.
That’s not necessarily a negative thing. Irrespective of Cech’s influence, all signs point to Lampard becoming the club’s new manager – which is all that really matters.
