With Petr Cech’s return to Chelsea being officially announced on Friday morning, the club provided an explanation as to what exactly his role will be in an official statement.
Any player who gave as much to this football club as Petr did would be welcome back with open arms. While he is, in truth, completely inexperienced, it’s a show of faith from Chelsea and an opportunity for one of our own.
While his return has been anticipated for some time, we were previously given little indication as to what exactly he would be doing after signing along the dotted line for the second time.
In an official statement, Chelsea revealed that Petr’s job title is ‘Technical and Performance Advisor’, which will give him the responsibility of both bridging the gap between the academy and first-team, as well as offering advice on strategy and performance related matters.
Petr is a football man and with a uniquely powerful brain for a player. His expertise and wisdom will no doubt be greatly received at Cobham – and we’re sure by Frank Lampard if he does become manager this summer.
