Chelsea appointing this manager could prompt prized asset to pen contract extension

In a report by the Daily Mail on Steve Holland being linked with the Chelsea job, a potentially crucial point was made which could make it a worthwhile appointment.

While Holland doesn’t have the managerial experience you would usually expect a Chelsea manager to have, he has seen first-hand what it takes to win the Premier League title.

Having played a role in triumphs under both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, he’s certainly more qualified than a certain Derby County manager – all due respect.

In addition to that, the Daily Mail have made a significant point on the potential link between Holland being appointed and Callum Hudson-Odoi sticking around.

It’s claimed that Holland arriving would ensure Hudson-Odoi was given a significant role, which could lead to the youngster finally penning a contract extension.

Hudson-Odoi’s contract is due to expire next summer and with Eden Hazard set to depart, we cannot afford to lose another of the club’s most valuable assets.

While this isn’t sufficient reason alone to appoint Holland, it’s something that certainly ought to be considered by those making the decisions in the Chelsea boardroom.
