Chelsea qualifying for next season’s Champions League was a bigger necessity than some may think, as the club strive to not fall further behind the Premier League top two.
Both Manchester City and Liverpool were head and shoulders above the chasing pack this season, hence how Chelsea finished third yet 25 points adrift of second.
Better management, better strategy and greater investment were all contributors to their success in comparison to ours, and it could’ve got even worse for us.
Have a look at this graph below, provided by @SwissRamble. It depicts just how beneficial it is to play in the Champions League rather than the Europa League.

Chelsea earned less than half what the two Manchester clubs did, despite winning the Europa League while they were knocked out in the Champions League quarters.
We have to make sure we’re playing in the competition season after season to ensure we have the finances available to properly rebuild this squad.
It starts now.
