Chelsea’s philosophy since Roman Abramovich took charge of the club has been rather pragmatic. Rarely have you seen us open up and play free-flowing football.
Maurizio Sarri attempted to implement a more attractive style of play last term, but we all know how that was received by those in attendance at Stamford Bridge.
We’ve enjoyed a huge amount of success playing ‘our’ way. Men behind the ball, reactive counter attacking and a little pinch of brute force. It’s worked wonders.
The foundation of our success over the past 15 years has been staying tight at the back, with us still holding the record for least goals conceded in a Premier League campaign.
It’s for all the aforementioned reasons that it comes as no surprise that the three players to have kept the most clean sheets in Premier League history are all former Blues.

All we need now is for JT to leave his post at Villa, then we truly will have the gang back together…
