Football pundit Kevin Hunter Day has revealed his belief that Chelsea and Crystal Palace will have been working on a behind the scenes agreement for the transfer of Wilfried Zaha, report the Daily Star.
Claims of this kind from figures such as Day are oftentimes merely personal opinion, but it’s interesting to hear what those around the football world are thinking on current matters relating to Chelsea.
The reliable Matt Law reported for the Telegraph last week that Chelsea are interested in Zaha and could make a move to sign the Ivorian when our two-window transfer ban comes to an end next summer.
Day has now revealed his belief that Chelsea will have wasted no time striking a deal for Zaha ahead of next summer – one that could even include Michy Batshuayi, who spent the second half of last season with Palace.
Day is quoted by the Daily Star saying:
“I think they’ll be some kind of deal backstage with Chelsea that he’ll go there and he’ll be there next season. Possibly Batshuayi will be involved at some stage either this season or next.”
While Zaha would no doubt be a worthy addition to the squad, it would be bizarre to agree a deal in principle to part with Batshuayi before we gave him a chance to succeed under Frank Lampard.
