Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta has left the door open for a return to Serie A this summer, with a departure from Stamford Bridge looking increasingly likely.
This information comes from Goal, who report that there will be no room in the Chelsea first-team squad for Zappacosta this season, leaving the Italian with the task of finding a new club for himself.
Zappacosta signed for Chelsea during what proved to be a forgettable transfer window under Antonio Conte. He has, to his credit, been the best of the dreadful bunch we recruited at that time.
Goal’s report mentions of previous interest from Lazio, but it doesn’t appear as though there has been any movement on that front. Zappacosta will need a new suitor to emerge in order to ensure his exit.
Chelsea will have sufficient cover in the shape of Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James, thus Zappacosta’s departure is not something that we ought to be particularly concerned about at this point in time.
