Chelsea injury news: Loanee likely to miss season opener due to problematic knee problem

Charly Musonda’s injury problems are not getting any easier, with the Belgian set to be ruled out of Vitesse Arnhem’s season opener against reigning champions Ajax.

Musonda was once considered one of the most promising players we had on our books, but missed the entirety of the 2018/19 campaign through injury.

The Belgian has been sent back out on loan to Vitesse in the hope that he will be able to regain some form and fitness, but at the time of writing, his struggles still remain.

Vitesse manager Leonid Slutsky is quoted by De Gelderlander revealing that Musonda is unlikely to be involved against Ajax as his knee continues to cause bother:

“After the game against Sivasspor everything seemed fine, but he got a stiff knee the next day. Therefore he automatically became frightened and he stepped out during the training. His injury is very unpredictable. If you ask me if he is ready for the match against Ajax, I sincerely do not know that.”

Musonda needs to take as much time as he needs to be fully fit before attempting to prove himself at Vitesse, else all he will do is cause himself further damage.

He has the talent, that’s not going anywhere, he just needs to be in adequate condition to show everyone in the Netherlands exactly what’s capable of.
