Redan, though considered one of the most promising attackers in Chelsea’s academy, clearly did not see a likely avenue into the Blues’ senior side.
The Dutchman has also chosen to avoid getting lost in our vast loan system, instead opting to depart the club on a permanent basis, with Hertha the lucky recipients.
While our younger players are more than likely to be given an opportunity to impress under Frank Lampard’s stewardship, you can’t blame him for seeking greener pastures elsewhere.
Redan leaves Chelsea after two years, 33 goals in 66 academy matches, winning an academy quadruple in 2017-18 as well as the #U17EURO with the Netherlands the same season. Good luck in Germany, Daishawn!

The Bundesliga has proven to be a happy hunting ground for action starved youngsters in recent seasons, with Jadon Sancho acting as somewhat of a pioneer.
We wish Daishawn all the best in this new chapter of his career and hope that he gets the minutes that he’s looking for. If he’s able to fulfil his potential, we could look back on this as a dark day.
