Two-time Chelsea Premier League title winner announces retirement from football

Former Chelsea winger Arjen Robben has opted to hang up his boots and retire after leaving Bayern Munich, report the BBC.

Robben spent ten glorious years at the Allianz Arena, picking up 20 pieces of silverware on his way.

However, all good things have to come to an end at some point, with the Dutchman deciding this summer was the right time to depart.

The next step in his career was unclear to see, but the BBC report that Robben has now made the decision to end his professional football career.

That’s a hard one to stomach for us. Although Robben spent just three seasons at Chelsea, he’s one of the best wingers the club has ever had.

Six trophies in three years, including two Premier League titles, and playing a starring role in asserting Chelsea’s dominance in English football.

Robben’s influence will live long in the memory in SW6, so we wish him all the best in whatever path he chooses to take next.
