BT Sport‘s writers have made their predictions for Chelsea’s first season under Frank Lampard – and it’s not all good news for the Blues.
With a head coach appointed with no experience managing at this level and a summer set to pass without the possibility of transfers, it’s hard to envisage what Chelsea’s season will look like.
The Blues managed to force their way into a third place finish in the Premier League last time around, but we’d be lying to say we didn’t owe a great deal of that to the brilliant Eden Hazard.
We are set to embark on a new campaign, which could realistically be both the making of Lampard – or an absolute disaster. BT Sport are split on what they believe lies ahead for us.
As written in their season preview, their writers’ combined prediction is that we will secure a fourth place finish, but data based predictory panel ‘The Script‘ see us in fifth.
Both outcomes are perfectly reasonable, and in truth, perfectly acceptable. Of course a Champions League finish would be preferable, but we have to be realistic in our expectations this season.
As long as several younger players are successfully integrated, and we don’t finish in tenth yet again, we believe that Roman Abramovich will give Lampard a free hit this time around.
