Chelsea announce in-house appointment for loan player technical coach position

Chelsea have today announced on the club’s official website that Carlo Cudicini has been handed a promotion in wake of Eddie Newton’s step up to the first-team setup.

Upon Frank Lampard’s arrival, Newton was himself promoted to a role he previously held under the management of Roberto Di Matteo, playing his part as Chelsea won the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

That left his previous role working with our players out on loan vacant – until now.

Chelsea have confirmed on the club’s official website that Cudicini has been appointed loan player technical coach, a role which will see him dealing with some of the most talented young players the game has to offer.

Cudicini will have plenty of responsibility in securing the future of the football club which he has dedicated a combined 12 years of his career to, which is testament to just how highly regarded he is by senior figures down at Cobham.

Speaking on his promotion, Cudicini is quoted by Chelsea’s official website saying:

“I’m really looking forward to this new challenge in my coaching career. The loan programme is an important part of our development pathway for young players at the club and this is an exciting opportunity to work with the next generation of talented players.”

Best of luck, Carlo! We’re sure you’re going to smash it.
