Chelsea beat Norwich City 3-2 yesterday, gaining their first three points of the season.
It proved to be a vital victory for Frank Lampard, who was understandably desperate to get that first win under his belt.
The Blues put in another good performance and once again should have scored more goals. They looked frail at the back again though, something that Lampard needs to get on top of.
One defender who did not put a foot wrong again though, is left back Emerson. The Brazilian was fantastic once again, and has been quietly putting in top performances.
Last season he eventually ousted Marcos Alonso from the starting line up, and has just grown in stature ever since.
Many Chelsea fans believed that the left back area is somewhere they need to invest a lot of money to bring in a top player.
However, it seems minds could be changing after Emerson’s ever improving performances game by game.

Alonso is never getting into this Chelsea side again. Emerson is hands down the best in the PL league in his position. He’s a rock. Name a better left-back in the EPL, I will wait pic.twitter.com/wwp8GiSiRQ

Had people last season saying Emerson was average and that we need to sign a new LB to take Chelsea to the next level. New signings are needed but definitely not at LB.

Actually, Emerson’s been playing quite well lately. Only one is necessary: a left-footed central back.

Just re-watched the #chelsea game and Emerson is hands down our best player so far this year. What a find he's been. Him and Reece James will be a joy to watch for the next 5+ years
