Chelsea ‘close to agreement’ with Premier League side for loan of midfielder

We have some news to bring you which will put a smile on your face…

According to Telegraph reporter Matt Law, Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater is close to signing for Burnley on loan this Deadline Day.

Drinkwater has been on the fringes at Stamford Bridge for the vast majority of the time since his big-money transfer from Leicester City.

Frank Lampard gave him a chance to impress during pre-season, one which the former England international was unable to take advantage of.

As a result, Drinkwater was frozen out, and if Matt Law is to be believed, he is on the verge of securing a move away from SW6 by the deadline.

Matt Law posted on Twitter claiming that Drinkwater looks as though he will be off to Turf Moor to play for Burnley this coming campaign.

All due respect to the player, getting him out of the squad is great news for Chelsea. We have a host of midfielders who are much more deserving of opportunities.
