Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has praised Chelsea’s young guns ahead of Sunday’s clash between the two sides, report the Metro.
Henderson and co will know that Liverpool are the favourites heading down to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. We will be hoping that the added pressure and expectation will result in a capitulation, although they have shown no signs of shakiness in the league thus far.
The Reds underestimated Napoli mid-week, however, which will likely give Frank Lampard’s Chelsea some added encouragement ahead of the contest. If Henderson’s words are to be believed, he will not be making the same mistake with us as his side did in Naples.
Henderson is quoted by the Metro acknowledging the strength of Chelsea’s younger players as he prepares to take them on with three points on the line in SW6 tomorrow afternoon:
“Frank’s done very good. I think the way they’re playing is very good. They’ve got young kids but they’re top players, and certainly will be in the future. They’ve got huge potential with the likes of Mason already training for England, I can see he’s got the right mentality to play football. Technically he’s very good. Everyone can see that he’s hungry to be a very good player and is a very exciting prospect. He’s started the season very well along with Tammy. They haven’t had a couple of results go their way, with the Sheffield United game and Valencia, but in terms of the way they’re playing I can definitely see an improvement.”
They’ll all be running rings around him tomorrow, so we imagine that this kindness and respect will be short-lived…
