Chelsea Women have a new captain, with Magdalena Eriksson set to wear the armband for the 2019/20 campaign.
The women’s side start their league campaign on Sunday afternoon against Tottenham Hotspur, with the club announcing that Eriksson would be captaining the side ahead of the fixture.

Eriksson, who finished in third place in this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup with Sweden, joined Chelsea back in 2017 from Swedish side Linkopings FC.
She won the FA Women’s Super League and Women’s FA Cup in her debut campaign with the Blues, being widely considered one of their star performers at the back.
The 25-year-old has now been rewarded for her good performances after being handed the captaincy by Emma Hayes for the season ahead.
Chelsea Women will be looking to regain the league title, with manager Hayes now self-admittedly in a better frame of mind having previously been pre-occupied with her newly born child.
We hope to see Eriksson with her hands on the trophy come the end of the season!
