Chelsea and Man U set for clash of youth players in Carabao Cup game

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to start plenty of young players against Chelsea, hopefully triggering a similar reaction from Frank Lampard.

The games are coming thick and fast right now, and while we’re delighted to have an exciting cup clash against United on the cards, it’s not the early round Carabao Cup cakewalk we would have been hoping for.

Luckily, according to The Daily Mirror, the United manager is going to play some of his own talented youth stars, allowing Frank Lampard to adopt a similar strategy.

Speaking about Jimmy Garner, who played at the end against Norwich, Ole said he was likely to feature again against Chelsea.

“For just 10, 15 minute Jimmy played as well (against Norwich). I thought he was excellent, because he’s calmed us down when we wanted to see the game out… So we’ve not made a decision on who is going to play [at Chelsea] but you’ll probably see the two of them [Garner and fellow youth team product Brandon Williams]

That will all hopefully mean the likes of Reece James, Billy Gilmour and Marc Guehi in action, and if you can’t get excited for that in a game at Stamford Bridge against the Red Devils… then maybe football isn’t for you?
