Chelsea winger Willian is one of the more senior players at the club now and he’s experiencing some good form so far this season. He seems to really be stepping up for Frank Lampard and working hard for the team.
He’s becoming a role model for the younger players and he seems to have gotten away from the often sulky attitude we have seen from him at times in the past when things are not going his way.
A major part of this I have no doubt is because of Lampard. The two played together at Chelsea during Lampard’s playing days, they know each other very well, and Willian is really turning up for him.
These are exactly the type of senior players and attitudes that Lampard needs right now as he bloods in a number of quality youth talents.
Willian has been talking about life under Lampard, and praising him as a player to the Chelsea website.
He said:
“He was an intelligent player, one of the best in his position. A quality player. When you see players like him you can say maybe in the future he can become a manager, and he’s here with us!
“It’s a bit weird he is my boss now, but I am very happy to work with him again. He has given me the confidence to play. He wants me to be happy.
“A part of the performances I have had in the past couple of games I have to dedicate to him. He always says to me “I want you to be happy”. That’s why I have been playing like I have been.
“I think our style of play has helped me, but not only that. The freedom he gives to us is important as well. I don’t have to stay on the right side. I can move around, I can move between the lines, I can move to the left side as well.
“I feel good playing in this way and that’s why I have been playing better and better. I hope to continue like this.”
