“You have no plan B” – Rob Green reveals exactly what he told Maurizio Sarri in explosive meeting after 6-0 thrashing

Rob Green was only ever going to be a bench warmer for Chelsea, and now he’s retired, meaning he can be fully honest and revealing about what went on last season under Maurizio Sarri.

The goalkeeper has been telling all in an interesting interview carried by SI.com. He goes into some pretty damning detail on what he made of the current Juventus boss.

He said that in the wake of the 6-0 defeat to Man City in February, there were harsh words had in the dressing room, and only he was really in a position to step up and say how he felt.

“I turned to Sarri and said, ‘Look, you are in a really difficult position and I understand that because there is stuff going on at this club that I can see, you can see and no one on the outside can see, so I get you’ but all the while I was thinking, ‘I’m going to give him both barrels in a minute’.

“I just spelled it out. I told him, ‘You have no plan B. You’re a transactional kind of manager. The players in the group are not the kind to speak to you like this — they care very much but are scared to say something to you, like I am. I don’t care because what are you going to do — drop me!?”

As it turned out, despite having the guts to speak up, Green admits that his words changed nothing, and Sarri’s philosophy remained the same.

Luckily for everyone involved, Juventus came calling in the summer, and all parties were able to escape from a marriage that always seemed unlikely to succeed.
