Frank Lampard was perfectly clear when he declared that he needed attacking reinforcements in January, and as we know they never arrived.
Since then he has been hit massively with injuries to his attacking players, with top goalscorer Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, and Callum Hudson-Odoi all struggling.
Michy Batshuayi is failing to step up when called upon, so Chelsea are left with Olivier Giroud to lead the line.
This has lead to some Chelsea fans calling for the return of the now free agent Daniel Sturridge.
The 30-year old striker has mutually terminated his contract at Turkish side Trabzonspor, and would be able to join another team right now.
Sturridge has scored 7 goals in 13 appearances in Turkey, showing that he still has an eye for goal.
I have certainly seen crazier things happen in this business, and Chelsea could use the extra firepower.
Some of these Blues fans might actually have a point here…
Hearing the news about Sturridge, would you take him back at Chelsea on loan considering our lack of striking options currently?

I might get a lot of hate for this comment but it makes sense. Trabzonspor have just released Daniel Sturridge, “By mutual consent”. #Chelsea desperately need a striker, so why not sign him up until the end of the season?

Chelsea should bring in Daniel Sturridge

Could former Chelsea and Liverpool striker return to Stamford Bridge? https://t.co/PQZg5lbsza via @NewsNowUK

That kicked off a furious reaction on my Chelsea chat Whatsapp group. I thought he was worth the risk to the end of the season #Sturridge

Chelsea already have three. United did get one, regardless of his quality. But please, do explain how their circumstances are the same.
We could have got a Championship striker on loan or Sturridge on a short-term deal and it would’ve been better than this.— Kevin Stewart (@KevJStewart) March 1, 2020
