Chelsea to pay £12m to agent after completing massive transfer coup

The Timo Werner transfer story is dominating the sports news headlines tonight, and there are some really interesting wrinkles to pick out from an explosive afternoon of news.

The Germany striker is on his way to Stamford Bridge, right from under the noses of Liverpool, and the question on everyone’s lips is how.

The fact that Chelsea are willing to pay the striker’s release clause up fron tis obviously significant. As are the enormous wages (reportedly €10m+ a year according to Christian Falk of Bild) they’re willing to pay hi..

But Werner himself isn’t the only one getting a monster windfall from this. According to the Independent, Karlheinz Forster (his agent) will receive £12m himself.

More than a year of Werner’s wages just for picking up the phone to Marina and passing it on to the big boys at RB Leipzig. Someone somewhere in Saxony is celebrating tonight – and plenty of Blues around the world too.

“You’ve got so many good young players in NZ, I don’t know how you do it. Actually I do, you’ve got three of the biggest academies in the world: Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.” – Who was taking shots in the rugby world? Find out here.
