What Armando Broja hopes to bring to Vitesse; and what they hope to get from him

About once a year there is player who suddenly steps up in the Chelsea youth teams and catapults themselves into the limelight.

It’s often a young teenager who develops physically suddenly, and that was the case with Armando Broja. Suddenly gaining height and strength over the course of the last year, he rose from the U18s to the development squad, then made his senior debut, and now has joined Vitesse on loan for the upcoming campaign.

Speaking to the Dutch club’s official website, he revealed exactly what impact he was hoping to have, and the club’s officials revealed how his sudden physical development had interested them:

“Armando is a very welcome reinforcement. Armando is tall, strong and has proven to easily find the target in recent years,” said technical director Johannes Spors, while Broja himself cited previous examples of Chelsea players succeeding in Arnhem:

“I know examples from Mason Mount, but also from Lewis Baker and Dominic Solanke. For myself I see Vitesse as the ideal club to make my launch. I want to grow as a player and as a person. And above all: score a lot of goals. I will give everything for that.”

That’s certainly the right attitude, and given the great relationship between the two clubs he should get the chances he needs without too many problems. If he can hit the ground running he can certainly hope to make as impressive an impact as those forebears on loan.
