Chelsea transfer target Lewis Dunk talks up ability of talented teammate

It’s not often you expect to hear Chelsea strongly linked with a Brighton centre-back, so to hear us linked to two in a single summer is truly special.

The idea we might sign Lewis Dunk has been floating around for a while now, but was squashed when the 28 year old signed a new contract just a few days ago.

He’s been speaking in the Brighton Independent about one of his teammates, young Ben White, who was superb on loan with Leeds last season, and has also been linked with Chelsea, as mentioned in the piece:

“You can see it in training every day, we know how good Ben is,” Dunk raved.

“He has shown it in the lower leagues, and he has shown it in the second-best league in the country,” the club captain continued.

“Last season when Saturday evening came around, it seemed to be the Ben White show every week!”

He’s not wrong. Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds were predictably on prime time TV all the time, and White was always exceptional for them.

Dunk seems sure that White will be back with him on the South Coast this season, insisting that he’s keen to see him  “bring that form back to Brighton” and “kick on” with the Seagulls.

Whether he will get the chance, or whether one of the other interested teams will decide that now is the time to swoop, remains to be seen.
