Kepa not leaving Stamford Bridge this summer despite transfer interest in other goalkeepers

The future of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has been a major question for the club for some time now.

Since the very first time he was dropped back in February, and certainly since the second time he was dropped after the restart, it’s been clear that his future is unlikely to be here at Chelsea, but it’s also becoming increasingly obvious that it’s going to be very hard to shift him.

The Telegraph today carry a story that claims that the club will not attempt to sell him this summer, even if they do sign a replacement, which looks likely at the moment.

They cite Petr Cech’s comments which came out this week from the Czech press where he said as much, and obviously if someone made a good offer for the stopper they’d bite their hand off, but it’s just not looking feasible given the current coronavirus situation.

The only good news for Kepa is that it looks like Kai Havertz is about to become the club’s new record signing, taking at least that particular mill-stone from around his neck.
