Thiago Silva is already in talks with Chelsea about extending his contract to the end of 2022, according to Marco Conterio.
The Brazilian arrived in the summer from PSG on a one year deal, with a certain element of uncertainty about how he would get on in a quick and physical league.
But in the space of a short few months he’s totally dismissed those fears, and he’s already proving to be an integral part of a suddenly improved defence. His impact off the field has been significant too, and given his English is still basic, there’s the feeling that he could play an even bigger role with a longer stay.
Marco Conterio of TMW Tweeted the following today, indicating that there was already contact between the two parties about a one year extension.

Honestly, it feels like a no-brainer for all parties, and it could be sorted out very quickly. Given there was an extension clause already included in the original deal, it should just be a question of triggering that.
