Antonio Conte has just won Serie A with Inter, ending the period of dominance of Juventus which he himself introduced. That makes it a good week to remember how good a manager he is.
We all know what he did at Chelsea – he got us 47 (!!!!) more points than the preceding “Mourinho season” and won us the title. A huge part of that turnaround was the arrival of N’Golo Kante, and in today’s Daily Telegraph Matt Law has a fun story about how the midfielder ended up at Stamford Bridge.
Apparently a move to Arsenal was all sorted “when Antonio Conte picked up the telephone.”
The Italian coach told him he could move to Chelsea to win a second title in a row – and he clearly was pretty convincing. Kante backed out of the Arsenal move, came to join Conte, and in less than a year they were celebrating a title together.
We’re still enjoying the benefits of that phone call today.
Had nothing to do with the shed load( financial doping) the chavs were offering of course
That would be Vladimir Putin wouldn’t it?
Very wonderful coach am proud of him
